WhatsApp Will Soon Support YouTube Videos Within The App

Slowly but surely, WhatsApp is transforming from the simplest messaging tool on the block into a power packed app, being one of the most favorite messaging apps that can go one on one with the other Messengers.

Following the recent additions of GIF-sharing, photo albums and expanded file sharing, the Facebook-owned company is testing in-app YouTube playback.

Some iOS beta testers are now enjoying the feature, which makes it possible to watch videos without leaving the application. This is actually not a new feature as a few months back, WhatsApp rival Viber added inline YouTube video support so we guess it was only a matter of time that WhatsApp got the feature as well. Better still, the video will be playing picture-in-picture giving users the chance to watch the video in a small window, while doing other things within the app.
However, it has been noted that changing chat conversations will stop the video. No word on when this feature is expected to go live, but it is a really sharp feature and hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.
