Google and YouTube are under the same canopy, so naturally, YouTube’s services and features are designed and optimized for Google products like its Chrome browser. So it’s not surprising that YouTube TV supported only Chrome for quite a long time ever since its launch. It makes sense.

But now we have some good news for non-Chrome users. It looks like Google is slowly loosening its grip on YouTube TV’s browser requirements and learning to play with others. According to YouTube TV’s support page, Mozilla’s Firefox browser has been added to the list of compatible browsers. The support page doesn’t tell us which versions are supported though, but we can guess that it is the latest one so users should probably upgrade to be safe.

This brings the total number of support browsers up to a whopping two: Chrome and Firefox. It’s a start. The support page also mentions that support for more browsers is expected to come n the future, so if you’re using Opera, Microsoft Edge, Safari, or others, support may be coming soon.

For those using Firefox, you can head over to YouTube TV and try it out if you haven’t done so already. It’s nice that support is now opening up more today.
